I'm new . . . What do I need to know about Coatesville UMC
What kind of church is Coatesville UMC?
In short, we are a church of Jesus Christ, rooted and grounded in the love of God, inspired through the Holy Spirit. We are a community of faith and we are eager to share through worship, prayer, and fellowship. We strive to offer a welcoming place where Christians and seekers can come to learn and grow together.
When and where does Coatesville UMC gather?
Our main weekly event is Sunday Worship which begins at 10:45 a.m. which is preceeded with Sunday School for children and adults of all ages at 9:30 a.m. Coatesville UMC is located at 4862 North Milton in Coatesville.
What does Sunday Worship usually look like?
Pretty simple. We sing and worship together, engage in a teaching from God's Word, share in personal prayer concerns, and enjoy each other in fellowship. We're not about a big show, we just want to be very real and worship Jesus.
What should I wear?
Some folks come pretty casual, some dress up, and most just 'come as you are' so to speak. We would adhere to the restaurant mantra: "No shoes, no shirt, no service".
Are there programs for kids?
You bet! In serving families and children of all ages, we offer a variety of pograms for the kids during the year. In Sunday School, the children enjoy activities and Bible stories led by loving adults. During Sunday Worship Service, Pastor Danny has "A Time For Young Disciples" where all the children gather for Danny's weekly and interactive message with the children.
Do I have to give money?
Only if you want to and are able to. There are many other opportunities for giving and helping the church in non-monetary ways.
Is Coateville UMC affiliated with any group or organization?
We are connected with the United Methodist Church. John Wesley and the early Methodists were particularly concerned about inviting people to experience God’s grace and to grow in their knowledge and love of God through disciplined Christian living. They placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today. We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage at the UMC official website (click here).
